New York Department of State's Division of Licensing Services (DLS), oversees the licensure, registration, and regulation of 35 occupations throughout the state. DLS develops and administers examinations, approves curriculum and instructors, processes license applications, investigates consumer complaints and conducts state initiated inspections. The Division is responsible for real estate professionals such as Real Estate Salespersons and Brokers; Real Estate Appraisers; Apartment Information Vendor/Sharing Agents; Home Inspectors; and Manufactured Housing.

This dataset includes real estate salespersons, brokers, and appraisers that are currently licensed by the New York State Division of Licensing Services (DLS). Each licensee is registered with license number, holder name, address, expiration date, etc.

To give New Yorkers the access they deserve to government data and information, Governor Andrew M. Cuomo launched the Open NY initiative in March 2013 and signed Executive Order 95. It directs state agencies to identify, catalog, and publish their data on the state's open data website administered by the Office of Information Technology Services (ITS). Open NY increases transparency, improves government performance, empowers New Yorkers to participate in government, and encourages research and economic opportunities statewide.
