Giant and Rocky Peak are two of my favorite mountains to hike. I have done this high peak in all seasons and love the view every time. I particularly enjoy hiking it in the winter as there are less crowds and the views/terrain is spectacular.

Beautiful winter hike. Full winter gear is essential, including micro spikes or crampons. Five and a half hours round trip, with plenty of breaks for snacks. In winter, start early because the sun sets early.

The views along this hike and at the top are absolutely jaw dropping beautiful! Definitely with hiking all the way to the top and it is not an easy hike should have at least a little experience when don't it. A true example that God is an amazing creative created when he created his creation!

We hiked the shorter ridge trail from Route 73 to the summit of Giant Mountain. It was a tough hike for the quick elevation gain, but the switchbacks help lighten the load a bit. For an easier approach try the Roaring Brook Falls Trail. It's a little longer but offers views of a waterfall and is a little less intense. The views from the summit of the Keene Valley and surroundings peaks is incredible. You can look out and see the Dix Range, Colvin Range, Great Range... My gosh the better answer is what range you can't see!

This was my first High Peak. The trail is very vertical. I was very tried once I hit the top. The trip down went better than I expected. Along the way are many nice views that are well worth spending time at. It is my all time favorite hike. I hiked Hunter and a few mountains in the Lake George area, but I plan to do Giant at least once a year.
